Tandoori Night . Kidlington-based, Tel 847744. | |
1.00 | A group of us had planned to go out - but the weather and general apathy persuaded us that takeout was a better idea. A brief search of the kitchen revealed a menu for Tandoori Night - a takeaway (dial-a-curry) based in Kidlington, which delivers free of charge! Deciding what everyone was going to have took a while, because the choice (for both vegetarians and meat-loevers) is extensive. When we phoned in with our rather lengthy order of seven main dishes and assorted rice dishes and naans, we were advised as to how long it would take to arrive. Sure enough, before the promised 45 minutes had elapsed the food arrived, piping hot and smelling wonderful. The food was as delicious as the aroma. The portions were large enough for everyone to try each dish (and for leftovers). The vegetable patia was delicious. The Vindaloo was warm, even to my galvanised tongue, but not so much so that the flavours of the sauce were obscured. The lamb madras was cooked to perfection (no easy task with lamb, which can often be a bit tough) with fresh green chillies adding a bit of heat. The Bombay potatoes (which came free, incidentally) and the chicken dishes all had the thoroughness of flavour that can be achieved only by proper marinating. For about £7 a head (main dishes cost £4 or £5 on average) and things like rice and naan are about £2) we had a truly wonderful meal. So much so that we even considered ringing up Tandoori Night to congratulate them. The next time you fancy a curry in front of the telly, Tandoori Night is definately worth considering. Yum! J.M. |
