Scarf There's a chill in the air, and it's time to wrap up warm! If you want to make a quick, simple, but beautifully handcrafted present for a particularly chilly loved one, a scarf is a great beginners' project for new knitters.
Materials: One ball of double-knit wool (or two, if you're going for a Tom Baker-length scarf) One pair of single-pointed 4mm needles
Cast on 46 stitches. (If you want to make your scarf narrower or wider, you can change the number of stitches - just make sure that they're multiples of two!)
Row 1: Knit 2, purl 2 - repeat all the way across, until you reach the final two stitches, where you'll knit 2. Row 2: Purl 2, knit 2 - repeat until you reach the final two stitches, where you'll purl 2
And that's it! Keep repeating these two rows until the scarf is the length that you want it to be, and then cast off.
