These days many universities offer their lectures available online and free, or in some cases
specially-written courses. If you have a bit of time to spare and want to pick up some extra skills,
for professional or leisure purposes, they can be an absolutely excellent resource.
FutureLearn is a
very good all-round provider, offering hundreds of topics from lots and lots of different academic
institutions, with good online learning support. It has a fairly strong European/Australian focus.
Coursera and
EdX offer similar
things but mainly from American Universities. We don't have particular knowledge of Coursera, but have
made use of EdX's computer science teaching and rate it highly.
