A family walk doesn’t have to be out in the frosty countryside: urban walks at Christmas can be most satisfying - get to know your neighbourhood and fill yourself with festive cheer at the same time. We are talking, of course, of Christmas Lights! Plus inflatable Santas, full-size reindeer, twinkles, sparkles, flashes, and neighbourly generosity. And it’s entertaining to see who embraces Christmas decoration and whether it’s the same as the notable Halloween-o-philes.
For the granddaddy of Christmas lights locally you’ll need to head to Kennington, where an unassuming house in Poplar Grove becomes the epicentre of all things festive. This year he’s even roped in a neighbour and the display is bigger than ever. As well as being fun it also raises money for charity, this year Sobell House and charities connected with the JR, and we believe children can visit Santa’s grotto and meet the main man himself as part of this experience.
