Advent Calendar 2023
If you’re looking for a way to fill the wonderfully aimless days between Christmas and New Year’s or need a festive family activity in the lead-up, don’t miss the Museum of Natural History’s annual Christmas Trail, themed around their beloved mascot, the DoDo bird.
This year’s theme is ‘Dodo in Christmas Colours’. Exploring the museum armed with a complementary activity sheet and pencil, children will be encouraged to find the colours of Christmas in the objects on display, such as a golden beetle. They are then given a challenge related to the object they’ve found, such as drawing or describing it to their family.
There are six objects and accompanying activities to find on the trail, and it’s recommended for ages 5 - 12 years. It’s entirely self-paced, so children can do as much or as little as they please, but should generally take 20-40 to complete from start to finish. Participants receive a sticker upon finishing the trail. Happy hunting!
DoDo’s Christmas Family Trail: Museum of Natural History. 21st December 2023 - 7th January 2024, 10am - 5pm. Closed Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and Boxing Day.
