This is an equivalent to Secret Santa, or a fun extra to play after lunch like stockings but for more grown up people. Start with either 1 or 2 wrapped items per person. They should be inexpensive but not unlikeable!
In the first phase of the game everyone draws a number out of the bowl, and this sets the order in which they get to choose and unwrap a present (and of course if there are two presents per person there are two rounds of choosing and unwrapping). In the second game presents are swapped and stolen, such that you may see your heart’s desire whisked away from you, or the present you had your eye on arrive in your lap.
For full instructions see the original post, complete with downloadable instructions.
This present comes from the blog of Megan of The Writer’s Greenhouse, which is also full of the most excellent poetry and prose writing prompts. So if you’re looking for activities for Christmas afternoon you might also find the perfect poetry challenge (or for writerly friends still in want of a present, Megan does also offer gift vouchers for her brilliant courses and workshops).
