The clothing exchange has developed a cult following since it began running at the Star pub a year ago, when organisers Delphi, Connie and Abby decided to turn borrowing clothes from each others’ wardrobes into something bigger - check out our interview with the team here. The monthly swap shop now has a spin-off in Cardiff, and has even branched out into running community self-defence classes.
The Swap Shop is a great way to find one-of-a-kind pieces sustainably and at no cost, without supporting fast fashion. Simply turn up with your old clothes - for each item you donate you’ll get a token to spend on a new find to take home. If you’re nervous or have difficulty with large numbers of people/sensory overload, there’s also a Quiet Hour before the main event so you can browse comfortably. So give your old clothes a new home and find your next go-to garment, whether it’s a cozy knit jumper or a dazzling party piece - after all, what better way to ring in the holidays than going green?
