Advent Calendar 2024
It must be Welly Wednesday as we are highlighting Santa’s farm visits today. For a historic farm building, you’ll want to seek out the beautiful surroundings of Cogges Farm. Just east of Witney, Cogges inhabits a 13th century stone manor house. It was once a working farm and now gives families a taste of farm life with activities both outdoor and in.
In the manor house you’ll find cooking, crafts and decor displaying Christmas through the ages. There’s also mulled wine and mince pies, and Santa’s Grotto (book your tickets in advance as the Big Man is popular and busy around this time of year). If you go for the later slot, head outside to take in the Festive Light Trail to light up the gloaming.
Fairytale Farm has put aside the fairy tales and switched to the classics with a Victorian Christmas courtesy of Dickens. Travel back to the bustle of Victorian London with puppets, elves and Santa to guide you around. Gather stamps in your special passport as you visit the dancing penguins, Tom the toymaker, a fairytale castle, Mouse Town, and of course Santa’s Grotto on your trip from Pole to Pole.
No car? No problem! From Oxford city, the S3 bus to Chipping Norton from the Rail Station gets you within 5 mins walk of Fairytale Farm, while S1 to Witney gets you within ten minutes walk of Cogges Manor Farm.
