The culmination of the fortnight-long Oxford Pride Festival, Pride Day in Oxford took place on Saturday, 1st June 2019. Below you'll find snapshots of some of our favourite moments from the parade. It was amazing to see so many local organisations showing their support of LGBTQ+ rights in Oxford.
It was a privilege to meet representatives from OxFriend, a helpline and online network which has been supporting Oxford's LGBTQ+ community since 1980. Their website will point you to a number of other LGBTQ+ organisations in Oxford including:
LGBT+ Oxfordshire
Oxford University LGBTQ+ Society
Oxford Brookes LGBTQ+ Society
Red Box Oxford
MyNormal Oxford
Topaz Oxford
LGBTQ+ people who are considering starting a family might also be interested in the free Becoming a Parent Seminar on 13th June.
Another great project that was spreading the word at Pride is Queer Caff, a potluck dinner with your chosen family. Lucy, one of the founders, says:
We are an informal group of people organising semi-regular dinners at Ark T Centre in East Oxford. Our dinners are alcohol free, cost nothing, very causal and open to anyone who identifies in any way as queer or the LGBTQIA+ spectrum. We really love newcomers and if there is anything we can do to make it easier for you to come then please feel free to post in the group or contact one of the admins. Join the Queer Caff Facebook group to find out the details of the next upcoming dinner.
