This Christmas, Creation Theatre are flying over the rainbow, for their digital Zoom show, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. To give you a flavour of what to expect from these trailblazers of interactive online theatre, we caught up with The Tin Man about his adventure!
Daily Info: What do you like most about being in Oz, and how does it compare to Oxford or other places you've visited?
The Tin Man: Oz is madly colourful - much more than Oxford! Personally I prefer the grey corporate skies these days - efficient and tech savvy. I’m not a big fan of the history in Oxford - I prefer to think about the future.
DI: What did you do before you met Dorothy and started following the Yellow Brick Road?
TM: I’ve been shut down for a while - my circuit boards and hard drive have been riddled with viruses. Basically my prospective mother in law did a deal with the Wicked Witch of the West so I’d stay away from her daughter, by infecting me with a glitch and now I’m pretty much burnt out.
DI: What was your favourite moment on the journey?
TM: We met this lion bloke - I’ve enjoyed teasing him. He really needs to get a backbone.
DI: What inspired you to want a heart in the first place? What do you plan to do with it now you've got one?
TM: I fell in love - I remember it - but now my affection is lost in my cables. I’m a bit lost. I want to feel again.
DI: Do you agree with the statement 'don't meet your heroes'?
TM: Yeah - I think it’s wise to be cautious - there’s a lot of bad elements out there.
DI: What advice would you give to someone who feels a little rusty after this tornado of a year?
TM: Don’t blame yourself - sometimes bad witches and tornadoes happen. It’s important to find opportunity in the storm - seek it out and go find what you need.
