You only have 140 words per day - how would you use them? By giving this absurd law an impressively serious treatment, this play cleverly explores two deep characters in a complex and intense relationship.
Natural dialogue is hard but Louis Cunningham and Mattie Williams pull it off perfectly: not acting - talking. Perfectly timed stutters and interruptions, also correct eye contact and nudges, fleshed out the characters. Director Ksenia Dugaeva clearly has a keen eye for such subtleties. A small gripe, though, was the staccato scene shifting: breaks every few paragraphs, or even words, lessened emotional engagement.
Walking home, my wife and I found ourselves hesitating to speak for fear of wasting precious words - the show clearly made an impact. A good play well executed, successfully exploring not just communication, but also love, politics and familiarity. Great stuff.
