Dia de los Muertos - Mexican Day of the Dead Party
A celebration of life and a chance to remember your loved ones - and find out how it's done in Mexico!
Florence Park Community Centre, Cornwallis Road, Oxford OX4 3NH, Fri 1 November 2019
Florence Park Social Pub presents a celebration of the Mexican tradition Dia de Muertos, where people gather to remember family and friends who have died. Enjoy Mexican food, music and dancing, cocktails, dressing up, and face-painting, and learn about how the day is celebrated in Mexico.
This is an event that has been requested and organised by members of the community to share the Mexican celebration of Day of the Dead. The Social Club, who run the bar for the community centre (all volunteers) have welcomed the initiative and are helping the community to offer this celebration. There will be food for sale provided by a local Mexican food trader, the bar will be open with special DotD cocktails, entrance is free, dressing up is encouraged but by no means compulsory. There will be music and dance and also some information about the origins of the Day of the Dead, and how and why it is traditionally celebrated.
Everyone is welcome, including children. There will be crafts, face painting and a film for the little ones who are also welcome to join in the dancing.
