This show is a vivid reminder of what discipline and talent together accomplish. Fusing fire and ice with flabbergasting acrobatics and ballet, the Russian Ice Stars instill Peter Pan on Ice with endless energy and elegance. Neverland has never seen such spectacular swordfights, whirling flames, or crocodilian cartwheels! When Wendy is whisked by Peter to this new world, we are in the same awe... we leave England and enter wholeheartedly into a land of pirates juggling flashing knives atop other pirates’ shoulders and smiling while swaying inside gyrating hoops of fire.
The mermaids are especially creatively costumed, and Peter has a complete velour wardrobe quite befitting a boy who won’t grow up. Captain Hook, strikingly tall and hooklike, battles the Lost Boys in epic style; ice sprays front rows like pixiedust. Meanwhile of course Tinkerbell whizzes around, bells ringing! Olympic-quality quadruple lutzes are made to look as effortless as flinging skaters above one’s head or spinning eighty-eight times without feeling discombobulated. Special commendation is due to Yury Kuprin: his sinewy crocodile backflips and one-handed Tiger-Lily-lifting skills are preternatural.
Promise not to miss this Pantastic performance!
