Over the years I have read many great reviews about Morgan and West and I was excited to finally be able to attend one of their shows. I am pleased to say they definitely lived up to expectations!
Set against a backdrop of a Victorian magic show, the audience were treated to an hour of comedy, wit and tricks. The humour was aimed nicely at all ages, some slapstick for the younger ones, and more subtle jokes to appeal to the adults in the group. The tricks ranged from charming - such as the milkshake that kept growing - to astonishing, for example the Houdini trick of the magician locked in a box. There were plenty of Christmas related props and jokes, making for a very festive atmosphere.
What I liked the most was the banter between Morgan and West; they work so well together- and the contrast in characters. West with his stern exasperation, his determination to keep the show from descending into farce due to the cheeky, frivolous Morgan, drew laughter from the crowds. At no point did they act over the top or patronise the audience; they get the tone just right.
While I would say this show is most suitable for under 10 year-olds, it is most enjoyable for all ages. It’s good old fashioned fun! A must-watch!
