The Dead Jerichos take to the stage, and skillfully enrapture the audience with their artful, angular brand of new wave punk indie. Jaw droppingly tight; This fearsome threesome bring to mind the best bits of Gang Of Four, Public Image Limited, Wire and Magazine. They boast a stupendous rhythm section, with the drummer and bassist perfectly in sych throughout the set, and a nice line in social commentary. Just a shame there weren't more punter here to witness it.
Egyptian Hip Hop take to the stage next. Neither Egyptian, Nor, for that matter, Hip Hop; they are, instead, a fiery furnace ball of Mancunian indie/funk energy. Boasting some of the most audacios bass guitar lines known to man (or woman), these guys take no prisoners, and wear it proudly on their sleeves! Regular My Space users will surely be accustomed to anthems like "Heavenley" and "Wild Human Child", and there's plenty more where that (or those), came from! Initially underwhelming, with an unremarkable instrumental and characterless stage demeanour; the band soon put these wrongs to right by wowing the crowd with George Clinton-esque rhythms, willfully self-deprecating on-stage banter, and sweatily engaging musicianship. I think, on this evidence, that the boys will go far. As for you? Check out their Myspace first, find out when they're playing in your town/city/village, and go see them! I very much doubt you will regret it. A stupendously groovesome band.
