The collaboration of Cornerstones Arts Centre and Scary Little Girls really does provide an adventurous entertainment with a surprise around every corner. There is an excellent briefing prior to the walk and the detailed directions are replete with fascinating information.
The problem for a reviewer is that any divulgence would spoil the unanticipated gems which one discovers on the walk. Rebecca Mordan's creation is an inspired series of totally new experiences. It is so imaginative and engaging that one identifies fully with the exciting vignettes. One can simultaneously enjoy the cleverly judged contrasting contexts. Most are atmospheric and intimate. One feels privileged to be allowed to be there, sharing secrets we know we cannot reveal.
I regret that by denying you detail, I can share little of these with you. Suffice it to say that one is involved with the past and the present of Didcot. There cannot be a more immediate way to enrich one's appreciation of specific locations. We are invited to share an amazing variety and enjoy a heightened perception of each. We will never walk past them again in the same way. If ten pounds seems a lot when you book the walk, you will wonder why it wasn't double that at least when you complete it.
Each scene is populated with accomplished artists, singers, musicians and experienced actors. Their dialogue is directly related to the places where they perform. This ninety-minute fanciful flight of literary fancy is not to be missed if you are both a lover of theatre and suspending your disbelief.
