Paul Greengrass, documentary film maker who took to features with "Bloody Sunday" & "The Bourne Supremacy" has gone on to make the first of what will inevitably be a batch of 9/11 films (Oliver Stone's is coming out in 6 months or so).
And I'm thankful that this is the first of them to be released. There is no manipulative music, no condemnation of the hijackers of United Airlines flight 93 and no relenting of the pace and energy once the action gets underway.
We don't get to see the hijackers actually do anything until an hour in. In the meantime, we see the first two planes disappear off the radar at air traffic control and plough into the world trade center..at which point Greengrass uses shocked silence from the onlookers as they stare at live footage feed from the news, rather than a gargantuan score to underline the obvious.
Well made if not slightly too long at points. 7/10
