Until now I've either enjoyed or have been fascinated by all Michael Haneke's films. But Happy End is just plain dull. It's a dysfunctional film about dysfunctional characters, an extended family. Every scene just seems to hang around too long and the script tries too hard to be "out there". Ok there are some great little bits of dark comedy but they seem to be planted randomly into the narrative. They never lead anywhere. When it abruptly comes to an end, I'd lost the will to live myself!
