Wonderful sets, shot with real style and a great music/sound score by Max Richter. It is an epic which needs to be seen in a good cinema. Its intensity and raw emotion just won't transfer to the small screen. But that's also it's Achilles heel; the portrait shots of Christian Bale, whose as powerful as always, just linger that bit too long at times so that super edgy visceral scream that feels like it is just around the corner can melt into melodramatic overplay. It'll keep you going to the end though. Worth the money? I'd say so, yessir.
