Don't be put off by the flashy previews- this film is as dark and mesmerising as the Nolans' previous films, Memento and Insomnia. It has the same lurking unease, sliding inexorably to a memorable climax. The dialogue is clever and well delivered by the three main protagonists (alas slightly less so by David Bowie and the insipid Johannsen!). Well worth a trip to this convincing and unsettling recreation of turn-of-the-century London.
