1969. For any early teenage boy the "men on the moon" was the ultimate in reality meets fantasy. It's such a great memory..and this film is very close to reliving that moment. The film has everything. It portrays an event that technically shouldn't have had a chance, in great photogenic detail. A USA that on the surface was still trying to push frontiers, there were no limits (park your thoughts, on the social justice and racial segregation that was the true reality of the USA, just for this film). Go see it and marvel at Apollo 11 slowing, majestically lifting upward inch by inch from the launch pad whilst the camera focuses in on the unbelievable power and multi colours of the thrust. The director of this movie has put together a fantastic piece of documentary evidence which makes you think you're there with them, willing the astronauts along... Breathless stuff!
Perhaps with hindsight the attention to detail might seem a bit geeky to those who don't quite understand what an event it was, but hang in there, it really is worth the "ride".
