Twilight is a phenomenally successful book, especially in the States, and this movie has been made on a modest budget of around £30m.
Now I will begin by admitting I am not the target audience for this film. I am however a massive fan of Vampire movies and so I wanted to go and see what was on offer.
I have a few problems with the Twilight vampires. If Vampires are able to walk about in daylight without fear of harm from sunlight, why don't they just do it? The boundaries that make them intriguing and scary are removed, they simply shimmer, their teeth have no menace, even the 'bad' vampires, and they walk around all day and night without any problem.
Why would they also continue going to school? Just don't go, rather than move from place to place repeating each year!
I found myself completely switched off by a movie whose plot was thin, acting was passable and premise massively flawed. Perhaps the target audience, hormonally charged teenage girls, can forgive these errors and incosistencies, this film fan can't.
I would only recommend this to a fan of trashy romantic stories or the book.
