Angels & Demons is one of the Dan Brown books I have not read so was looking forward to the film with an open mind and a clean slate. Many aspects of it are superb. Howard's direction is second to none, with great use of tracking shots and close ups, so good you probably won't notice just how good it is, he is a genius!
Tom Hanks is great as Langdon and there are strong supporting performances throughout. Ewan McGregor does a slightly odd Irish accent that makes me wonder why he just didn't play it in his native tounge?
Dan Brown's stories are great, but they do rely on quite high levels of coincidence and chance that sometimes take things a little too far. The ending looked great although it is a little far fetched for my usual tastes and the final twist is a little obvious. But this is a decent yarn and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
