Ida (Trine Dyrholm) is having a really bad year: cancer treatments, a cheating husband and crashing her car into her daughter's future Father-in-law's car (Pierce Brosnan) before they have met- sort of bad. How can it get any better? A trip to Italy for her daughter's wedding should do it!
Philip (Brosnan) is a workaholic widower who blames the world for the loss of his wife and is content to be as unfriendly as possible to everyone he meets. A trip to the villa he shared with his wife in Italy for his son's wedding isn't something he is looking forward to, but could well be what he needs.
Astrid and Patrick are preparing for their wedding. They are young and in love, what more could you need?
This is a very enjoyable and relaxing film. It begins in Denmark and regularly switches between Danish and English with the occasional splash of Italian as you meet the characters and they all head off to Italy. There are beautiful scenes of Italy looking over Sorrento and a lemon grove that will make you long for the sun and fragrance of southern Italy. It is a well written, well made film. The characters are believable and very watchable. They take you on a ride of emotions, particularly Dyrholm who is the perfect heroine. There are plenty of laughs along the way along with some twists (although they are predictable).
If you are looking for a thrill-a--minute kind of film this is not the one for you, however, if it's a relaxed evening with a bottle of wine and chocolate-kind of film then this fits the bill.
