Bradley Cooper beefs up as a good ol' Texan, for God and country, and does a job of it, but the movie is a mess. It can have you on the edge of your seat, but then most modern war movies do. Morally it's totally bankrupt, says nothing of any consequence and follows the path of any John Wayne movie of 50 years ago, except it takes over 2 hours to do it with next to no wit or humour. If you must watch the Americans in Iraq then the HBO series Generation X is miles better than this.
