Oxford City Farm is a 2.5 acre site that has been transformed into a community-led city farm in the heart of east Oxford, near to Florence Park. The farm seeks to engage local people with the processes of food production and promote healthy eating and local food.
We grow plenty of crops in our North and South beds as well as in our polytunnels, and we have fruit trees, a pond, chickens, bees, goats, an outdoor covered space, a beautiful yurt and a kitchen area. Wheelchair friendly facilities too. There is only disabled access parking, so please if you can walk, bike or bus (the no. 16 goes right past the door). No dogs other than assistance dogs, as it is a working farm.
As well as regular volunteering work parties for members of the public on Fridays and Saturdays between 10am-1pm, the farm also works with school groups and vulnerable people during closed sessions during the week as well hosting corporate groups (we offer CSR days) and visits from schools. Volunteers are well treated (regular cups of tea and plenty of cake), offered produce from the farm, and the jobs on offer are always well pitched for a variety of abilities. Children are welcome, either to help or to rush about playing in the playhouse and around the site (though do be aware that the bees and the pond may require young children to be supervised). Every Saturday the farm hosts a pop up cafe and produce stall selling freshly harvested veg and eggs from our chickens.
In addition:
