Tucked away on
With seating across two floors and approachable staff on hand to help, it was easy to make ourselves feel at home. There is a terrific range of sandwiches, ciabattas and crepes to choose from and Bean & Brew are more than willing to meet a customer's demands (in this instance a child's jam sandwich, not on the menu but readily provided). On our first visit our party went for the BBQ chicken melt ciabatta, the ham and cheese savoury crepe, a cream tea, hot chocolate and baby brew.
Service is not especially fast but that's due to our meals being made from scratch. When are drinks came they were spot on, a hefty pot of tea (breakfast) for my wife, a huge mug of hot chocolate for me, and a much-appreciated baby brew for the toddler. The accompanying scones were perfectly-formed, with the jam and cream being plentiful. The cakes at Bean & Brew really are delicious.
When are mains came they were piping hot and scrumptious. The ciabatta was packed with filling, the cheese a gooey treat, while the ham and cheese savoury crepe was fabulous. More places should offer savoury crepes, but until then the Bean & Brew can fill my need for these culinary delights. The child's jam sandwich satisfied the toddler's cravings, quaffed down at a remarkable speed. The only downside of our meal is I ordered far too many chips, with one portion really enough for a party of three to share. Something to learn for next times. Outside of a delicious lunch menu, the café offers an afternoon tea, complete with traditional sandwiches, petits fours and scones. It sounds marvellous and feels well worth a revisit to check this out.
The friendly staff and air of approachability to the Bean & Brew meant that we left supremely satisfied and ready for another visit. The food is flavoursome and plentiful, the cost approachable and the whole establishment has a likeable, unpretentious quality to it, making it the perfect lunchtime destination.
