Familiar faces on the Oxford street food scene, the Souvlaki Brothers are now set up in their permanent shop in the Covered Market. I headed along to their official opening, eager to try some of their authentic Greek food.

The Souvlaki Brothers are in the corner unit previously occupied by Fasta Pasta, but their redecoration has transformed the space. With a fresh coat of blue and white paint, and a bouzouki hanging on the wall, the decor transported me straight back to holidays in Greece.

The event was buzzing, with many other Covered Market traders in attendance - the Souvlaki Brothers have clearly settled into this Oxford institution with ease. The bubbly was flowing, and guests got to try a selection of dolmades, olives, feta, and baklava, all of which should soon be making an appearance on the menu. I've never been keen on black olives, but these were excellent, and I was very excited to see a small tub in the goody bag that I was given to take home!

It was easy to see that the new Souvlaki Brothers shop is a real labour of love, and I anticipate that they'll be very busy with customers as they settle into their new home. I'll certainly be heading back to try some of their trademark souvlaki!
