Cafe Loco, located just a five minute walk from the city centre, is perfect for those seeking refuge from the busy streets. The decor is inspired by Lewis Carroll's
We visited on a quiet Wednesday afternoon a little after lunch time. I found the service prompt and friendly. Having eaten not too long before the visit I settled for a simple choice of a latte and almond croissant, while my companion decided to try the flat white and freshly squeezed orange juice. For those more hungry than me the menu offers a vast range of breakfast options, bagels, paninis and baguettes. The menu also caters well to the vegetarians amongst us, with dishes that are suitable clearly marked out for convenience.
The coffee was splendid, the latte was perfectly balanced with a soft layer of foam across the top. The almond croissant was to die for, simply the best I've ever had! The croissant was covered a by a crispy shell, hiding underneath, a rich and buttery pastry accompanied by a delicious almond filling. My companion's flat white was also up to standard, delivering a rich taste of coffee and a silky texture (as a flat white should). The orange juice was in fact freshly squeezed yet wasn't groundbreaking considering the price.
The coffee prices compare to those of other cafés in the city centre, the almond croissant, although mouth-watering, was steeply priced at £3.95. Overall a coffee and cake or pastry of your choice will set you back around £6.50 which is very reasonable taking into account the location and great atmosphere. Whether you to choose to stop by for a coffee and sweet treat or a lunchtime meal, Café Loco has you covered. Definitely worth a visit!
