These people have a secret beer - called the Gardener's Arms - and it is the best of the best. This is a reason to go there and nowhere else. Like, as you might say, ever. Except perhaps the Trout, to take visitors for the view and the food. Having discovered it, I am decided.

Great pub. Great atmosphere, welcoming landlords, good food and beer. Highly recommended!

The Gardener's Arms is the name of one of my favourite pubs in Oxford. Be warned though. It is not this one. Quite frankly this is a messy; dirty; dingy horror of a pub. I'm not sure there is much more I can say really.

My partner and I visited on a sunny afternoon and ordered drinks - reasonable prices.

We walked down the pub corridor (a.k.a. the pub) and to a rear door that appeared to lead to a garden. Upon opening the door I observed that it was merely an alleyway. This is not the reason I don't like this pub though - I felt uncomfortable from the moment I walked in and really wanted to drink outside to avoid using any of the dank seating on offer and to avoid looking at a load of junk.

Regardless we perched at a table next to piles of old VHS tapes and a shelving unit stuffed with old VCR recorders. Behind us was a grand piano covered in dried (or dead?) and dusty flowers alongside some giant foam Xmas decoration. We were either in someone's living room or a decrepit funeral home.

The food on offer is of the 'home-cooked' variety but until something drastically changes I am not going back so sadly cannot review these delights.

I love pubs and we need to save them. But this one is sadly going to take a lot of hard graft.
