It has to be said that The Jam Factory does a lot. A restaurant fused with an art gallery, seasoned with a very good bar, it is an establishment that works just as effectively as a location for brunch as it does for a comedy gig or for an exhibition. On this Sunday my partner and I picked it for a spot of Sunday lunch.
The location of the factory is great, as it is central (opposite
As well as a great atmosphere, the restaurant serves exceptional food. For starters I went for Cornish lamb koftas whilst my partner chose the crispy spiced halloumi. My koftas were scrumptious, the lamb cooked just right. While I could definitely have had more here, it was a lovely way to start my meal. The halloumi was well-cooked, with a satisfyingly cracking outside whilst retaining its soft centre. The accompany chilli jam was a great addition, with a zesty full-bodied taste.
With starters consumed we moved onto our mains. Our daughter had the child's menu roast, which is the perfect size for older children though a tad on the large size for an eighteen-month-old. She gave a valiant effort, but it did mean I was able to try the beef she was unable to finish. The meat was exceptional, moist and succulent, not too chewy and neither under nor overcooked. It was a perfect centrepiece for the roast that my partner had the adult version of. The rest of the roast was very good, with a nice range of different components which were well-cooked, with a great Yorkshire pudding topping it off. I sided with a burger and went for the 'Piggywiggy', a pork burger with chorizo inside. The burger had a good heft to it, with each of the main flavours, pork, chorizo and tomato, complimenting each other.
The puddings were too tempting to resist. I went for the special of the day, which was waffles and caramel sauce. They were scrumptious, the waffle having a fluffy centre whilst also have a pleasing crunch, plus there was just the right amount of sauce. My partner chose the brownie and was rewarded with a rich chocolatey treat, a warm and moist dessert.
The Jam Factory is an exceptional restaurant. I love the location and the interior, and the food is magnificent. It is welcoming to families without losing an atmosphere that suits the adult members of any group. Our waitress was brilliant, going above and beyond to make our meal as comfortable as possible (she even picked up the grapes my daughter had decided to throw on the floor). So not only is the food at this establishment very good, but all the other elements that surround the eating experience are spot on. I strongly recommend trying The Jam Factory today.
