Recently had lunch at the The Lambert Arms with friends and was very disappointed.
The food was uninspiring, and over-priced. The choice of vegetarian meals was limited - just the one option if you didn't want to go for a multi-course meal.
It's hard to see how you can justify charging nearly 10 pounds for a salad of vegetables (carrots and runner beans) & mixed salad leaves with a small slab of goat's cheese on the top. No bread, or chips etc. to accompany it, and served on a hot plate so the salad was looking decidedly wilted.
The service was slow, and at times rude. When asked, as the waitress took our plates away, how our meal was, I politely indicated that I wasn't particularly happy. This was the end of the conversation. We weren't asked what was wrong - the staff simply didn't care. We had to ask for the bill twice before it arrived - there was no apology for the delay. The bar-staff were unable to answer questions about the menu, instead telling us to find a waitress to ask - there wasn't one in sight.
Of the four dinners, only one felt their meal was worth the money. None of us would consider returning.
