One of the best pubs in Oxford. No pretentions, just good honest ale at a reasonable price, always a good choice. Patronised by students, tutors, and university staff. A favourite with archaeologists (being close to both Keble and the Archaeology research Lab). Agreed, it can get very busy, so don't count on getting a table straight off on (especially) a Friday evening, but then that's true of all the better pubs in North Oxford. Try to avoid the elevated room far right if you have sensitive hearing or want a civilised conversation. The hard walls reflect every sound drowning out all but the boisterous. Hint, Lamb and Flag management, how about installing some sound barrier material?
