Cold and wet evening, but great British spirit during an amazing performance from Sister Sledge. Amazing voices, great tunes and hire performed by individually very talented musicians. Fabulous audience participation and individual introductions of each member showing us their incredible talents as musicians. Then…. Chaka came on.
25 minutes late, her strong voice wailed her way through some slow songs, then disappeared off stage for a 20 minute break after only 35 minutes! Audience started leaving after about 20 minutes of her coming on! A lot to do with the hideous weather but I’m pretty sure due to her complete lack of sparkle and getting the audience involved and enthralled. I was fortunate enough to be given tickets, but had I paid £81 to see her I would have been furious.
Sister Sledge should have been, and were, the main act last night.
