Drinks and food are served in both the bar and the dining room. Having two distinctly separate areas to dine gives us the opportunity to satisfy different dining occasions. The bar suits a quick informal meal for two or perhaps a large get together of old friends all of which may not wish to eat and would like to draw from the bar atmosphere. The dining room is ideal for couples who wish for greater intimacy or a special gathering with family and friends.

Named after the source of the stream which flows into the pond opposite the Church, The Flowing Well has been beautifully renovated, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
  • Central
    Pub
Amusingly-nomenclatured pub formerly known as the Slug & Lettuce (and prior to that, Yates' Wine Lodge). Lift & baby-changing facilities. The eye-catching building next door but one to these premises is Oxford University’s history faculty. It was originally the city’s High School for Boys, which opened in 1881. The comic actor Ronnie Barker was a former pupil and later one of the Two Ronnies. Probably their best-known sketch was ‘Four Candles’. Barker walks into a hardware store and asks for and gets ‘four candles’. However, he really wanted fork handles – ‘andles for forks’.

The pub itself dates back to the 1930s and exhibits a truly traditional building with stunning wooden beams and inviting open fires for the colder British seasons. With plenty of parking, a large outside terrace and excellent accessibility we offer something for everyone, all year round. We also welcome our canine friends in the bar area. Our aim is to create an informal dining experience featuring fantastic fresh British food, a selection of wines and cocktails, beers and real ales.

Here at the Gardeners Arms on North Parade we are a long narrow traditional one bar pub with a galley kitchen, from which a vast array of good value meals are served. A friendly atmosphere and warm welcome are assured here. Our ethos is to provide a great, personal service at great prices. Whilst a lot of pubs have applied much of their attention on turning into a Gastro pub we feel that a pub should be just what it was meant in years gone by; a friendly place to enjoy a drink with friends and strangers, to eat good honest, unpretentious food and leave wanting to return soon.

The Greyhound has character and atmosphere in spades, and feels just as a traditional country pub should feel. Their garden delights through all seasons! Their passion lies in finding quality fresh ingredients and preparing, cooking and presenting them in a modern but unpretentious way and The Greyhound's menus have a spine of classic British dishes complemented by more exotic influences from other parts of the world.
